“I am delighted to become Honorary President of the Edinburgh Writers’ Club. By its very nature, writing is a solitary activity - to be able to share one’s work with others is so important for writers. The Edinburgh Writers’ Club not only provides a forum for that, but helps to underline this city’s role as a UNESCO City of Literature.”
— Alexander McCall Smith
Welcome to the website of the Edinburgh Writers' Club. We are a community of writers in the Edinburgh area and beyond, with an annual programme of competitions, workshops and expert speakers. Our 2021-22 programme starts on 13 September.
The Club meets in the Royal Scots Club in the city centre for speaker-led meetings, with members' meetings held via Zoom.
New members describe the club as 'pragmatic, helpful, friendly, involving, cheerful, wide-ranging, for beginners as well as published writers, informative, non-threatening.'
For more information on how to join, and details of subscription rates, see the Join page. For information about how to get to meetings, see Venue.
